Synopsis
A witty and fast-paced comedy of manners, The Importance of Being Earnest follows two men who create false identities to escape their social obligations. As their double lives begin to collide, misunderstandings and romantic entanglements unfold, exposing the absurdities of love, class, and social expectations.

Characters
A respectable gentleman living a double life, “Jack” in the country and “Earnest” in the city. He is sincere, well-mannered, and eager to do the right thing, but becomes flustered and overly dramatic when his lies begin to unravel. Preparing to enter high society through marriage.
Jack Worthing (Earnest)
Male-presenting, 20s–30s
A respectable gentleman living a double life, “Jack” in the country and “Earnest” in the city. He is sincere, well-mannered, and eager to do the right thing, but becomes flustered and overly dramatic when his lies begin to unravel. Preparing to enter high society through marriage.
A stylish, aristocratic bachelor with a sharp wit and love of pleasure. Bored by social rules, he invents his own excitement and rarely takes life seriously. Quick-thinking, playful, and slightly mischievous, he enjoys turning situations to his advantage.
Algernon Moncrieff
